October: All Hallows' Eve
All Hallows' Eve sweeps across the sky
as Death follows the sun riding the moon.
And over a pale,pale land
it's shadow spreads and Magic blooms.
While All Soul's Night unfolds,takes hold;
Death's Shadow then beckons the dead
to cross the border from Memory
And a pause in life begins.
As the dead wander over the border
a chill whispers on the wind.
Myth and Legend come alive
and Halloween reigns in.
So beneath a Harvest Moon
watched over by the Shadow of Death
we share our food, wearing costumes
and celebrate life with our Dead.

Living With Fear
9/11 made us all ground zero.
And as all the generations before us.......and all the generations that follow us....
We Endure.

We Endure.

Where is the happy ending here?
Listening to the news...The church's plan to burn the Quran will go forward.....
Observation:
When Emotions rule over Intellect, people are lingering on the Playground of the School of Life.
Comment:
Recess is now over. Go put your Intellect back on and join us back in the Classroom.

Pondering on the next generation....
I've read so many times on how our children and grandchildren outpace us in knowledge today.
Yet I remember
milking a cow;
picking green beans in my grandmother's garden;
loving the zinnias she grew
helping her can food from her garden.
I remember
putting up hay with my grandfather;
getting the cows in;
running wild in the woods of Pennsylvania;
watching the sun go down and the stars come out on the dark, dark nights.
My children and grandchildren can e-mail and text message with the best.
I can survive in the wild.

Listening to the news..."the unemployment rate has fallen".
Ponderable: Where do they count all those people whose unemployment benefits have run out and are still unemployed?
........................................................................
Listening to the news..." I don't want the government telling me I have to BUY health insurance".
Ponderable: What is the difference in "having to buy" and "having to pay"?
Comment:
I HAVE to pay taxes NOW which buys health insurance for those who do not have it. It appears many in government are trying to do two things... get everyone to pay for their OWN health insurance and ensure they have someone to buy it it from , who isn't going to drive them into debt OR death.

Who Doesn't Have Snow...
Or a shovel...
The Farmer's Almanac got this one right. I am, thankfully, off today and can watch it fall...and fall...and fall. The awe this inspires of the elements in the world around me has me enthralled.
It is in these moments when we truly know our real worth to ourself and to others.
